There is a lot to tell about the beautiful island of Cuba, and that is why we have created this special edition. In this magazine we sleep in a local’s home and get the insider’s take on Havana. Havana Club Rum

‘We are in the San Jose de Las Lajas distillery, where Havana Club is composed. For many rum lovers, this is the Holy of Holies. Based on the sales figures, about fifty million bottles of rum are sold every year, and you can conclude that the prestigious Cuban rum brand has many fans worldwide. In Cuba itself, there is no escaping Havana Club’.

The Cuban Spring

'Do you want to be one of the first in the world to discover Cuba by camper?'

‘Do you want to be one of the first in the world to discover Cuba by camper?’ was the question. A few parts in that sentence triggered us: ‘the first’, ‘camper’ and ‘Cuba’. It didn’t take photographer Frits Meyst and myself a lot of thought to decide in this case.

But, because there is so much to tell about Cuba, so much to see, we thought it would be a waste just to create one story. Especially now, since the Cuban Spring is slowly setting in and the country is changing. So, we decided to create a whole WideOyster Special about this sunny island over which the Castro’s ruled for almost sixty years. This is the result.

Have fun reading and watching.

¡Buen viaje!
