Travel Highlights of Umbria, Italy

In Search of Space

‘My wanderlust got the best of me, and the horsepowers of my old camper were foaming at the mouth. Ready, steady, go!’

I am writing from my camper in the centre of Barolo in the Langhe, one of the most famous wine regions in the world in Piemonte, Italy. The Italian border opened up on the 15th of June, and my wanderlust got the best of me, and the horsepowers of my old camper were foaming at the mouth. Ready, steady, go!

I was also inquisitive how the countries around The Netherlands (where I am from) are doing in these Covid times.

Well, the typically quite overcrowded Raststättes along the German Autobahn are almost empty. Lots of space. The highway restaurants are not open, so to devour a schnitzel, you’ll have to go a little bit off the highway. But, who cares, the schnitzels are usually better anyway in the beer gardens in the small villages that speckle Germany. Masks are mandatory.

They are also mandatory in Switzerland. And, also in Die Schweiz, we had all the space and quiet we wanted.
