Travel done right
What if I tell you, that you can change the world by travelling? That sounds rather weird in a time in which there is a lot to do about flying, and the pressure it puts on the environment, right? But travel and tourism have tremendous power to drive conservation, promote peace and bring economic value to those who need it most. Often it does the opposite. Together we can change that.
Check out this TED-talk by Shannon Stowell, CEO of the Adventure Travel Trade Association. Stowell explains how to choose a better vacation. Ones that can change the world for good.
Stowell has more than 25 years of experience in adventure travel and environmental science and has served on the boards of both the Global Sustainable Tourism Council and the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund. What I’m trying to say, is that he kind of knows what he is talking about.
As an adventurer and traveller, Shannon promotes the power of travel done right. He advocates for responsible tourism as a tool for destinations to position themselves at the intersection of commerce, conservation and community. Something WideOyster fully agrees with.

Meet the poet Gonçalves Dias There was no man more in love with his country Brazil than Gonçalves (1823-1864), but it is not the reason he wrote this ode to his homeland. At 15, after studying French, Latin and philosophy, he left Brazil to study law in Portugal....
